Is it time to bring some self-compassion, acceptance and kindness into your life?
Hello and welcome to Ameigh Therapy. I'm Charlotte Ameigh (She/Her), I'm a Yorkshire based BACP therapist specialising in integrative counselling & clinical supervision. I support people struggling with issues that are getting in the way of them leading the life they want.
I'll start by letting you into a secret. One of the best things about what I do, is when a client tells me that they feel like they don't need to see me anymore. That's when I know that creating time and space for self-compassion, kindness and yes, therapy has paid off.
I think one of the many reasons I was drawn to talking therapies is because I want people to see that as human beings, we aren't flawed or broken. It's just that sometimes we get stuck and overwhelmed or we just can't see our way out of a situation.
I've turned to separate therapies on many occasions in my life and I've felt the same breakthroughs and lightbulb moment as my clients. It never ceases to amaze me that just a few sessions can start to improve and contribute to long lasting, positive change in someone's life.
And this is why I believe talking therapies are such a powerful solution to many of the issues holding us back in our lives. Whether it's relationship issues, work stress or negative self talk, anxiety, low mood, or just a general feeling of not being okay. Therapy can help you find a way through.

Ethos and approach
I follow a 'person-centred' approach to therapy and supervision, which is based on three core concepts: that as your therapist or supervisor I am genuine, non-judgmental and empathetic. These qualities underpin my practice and every client session interaction. I see my role as simply providing you with a safe and positive space to grow and develop. My ethos is based on the teachings of the psychologist Carl Rogers who developed the person or client centred approach to therapy I mention above, and Milton Erikson for his work in hypnosis and family therapy. I've added links so that you can read a little more about them, their work and theories. I love this Carl Rogers quote in particular because it sums up how I see people.
'A person is a fluid process, not a fixed and static entity, a flowing river of change, not a block of solid material; a continually changing constellation of potentialities, not a fixed quantity of traits.'
